If you are interested in participating, please contact Lessie Diener. CIRCUIT SHOW CONCESSION STAND To make the concession stand a success, we need lots of volunteers. Even if you are showing that day, we would like for you to help. Contact Meghan Freeman to sign-up. HORSE JUDGING Abbie Grossnicklaus will be hosting a horse judging meeting on Wednesday, April 30th at 6:30pm at the Extension Office. The meeting should last about an hour and she will be going over the basics of judging. Abbie is going to have some fun activities and everyone is invited to attend. Her hope is to form judging teams to compete at local and state events. There is even a non-competitive team for juniors! The state Horse Judging competition will be June 24th in Manhattan. Hope to see everyone at the meeting! JR DISTRICT HORSE SHOW The NE Kansas Jr. District Horse Show will be June 14th in Valley Falls, KS. More information is available on the K-State 4H website. HORSE ID PAPERS Horse ID papers need to be either renewed or turned in by May 1st. You can e-mail the photos to Abbie and she will print them out. These papers must be turned in for every horse you plan to show at 4-H events this year. Forms are on the Extension Office website. ARENA CLEAN-UPS Our Circuit Show is approaching and it's important that we get the fair ground arena cleaned. There are two more scheduled clean-up dates: Monday, May 5th and Monday, May 12th. Clean-up starts at 6pm. Don't forget to bring buckets and gloves. You must participate in at least one arena clean-up to be eligible for year end awards. REGIONAL CLUB DAYS Regional Club Days took place March 15th in Lawrence, Kansas. Once again our club did a great job! Below are the ribbons that were presented at the March meeting: Group Dance Purple Project Talks Tate Drees (Int.) - Purple Vocal Solo Grace Freeman (Int.) - Purple Solo Novelty (Twirling) Mattison Diener (Int.) - Purple Congratulations to everyone who participated in Club Days! HORSE BARN RENOVATION COMMITTEE Emily Janes has presented an extensive proposal to the Fair Board concerning the horse barn renovation. Funding is the biggest obstacle the proposal faces. Solutions to this problem include getting corporate/club/individual sponsorships for the barn/stalls and renting the stalls for events. Another concern is if the renovation is completed, will the stalls be used. At last year's fair, 47 horses were shown, but only 22 stalls were reserved. Everyone showing at the fair is encouraged to stall their horse. The fair board has talked about not allowing "show and go." If you have further questions or comments, or are interested in serving on this committee, please contact Emily. JUNIOR LEADERS The Extension Office is still trying to build their Junior Leader program. Any member 12 years old (real age) or over can serve as a junior leader. The county is trying to resurrect this program to provide age appropriate activities for the older kids. TRAINING CLINIC The training clinic is scheduled for May 17th at 9am at the Burks' indoor arena. Trainer Cal Noyans will be presenting the clinic. Topic and cost are not known at this time. Please contact Brandy Sosa with your ideas and if you are interested in attending. The next meeting is Wednesday, May 7th. The Shields family will bring snacks and the Fangman family will bring drinks.
